Welcome to BOOMTOWN BUILD! All coaches in Oregon are automatically added to this mailing list. Teams in neighboring communities are welcome to participate in Oregon Expos provided there is space.  If you have missed an email from Oregon you may read the archive on our blog, or see the important links on our website. Official updates and program materials can be found on the FIRST LEGO League Jr Challenge website.

1) Arches Expo - new location!

The Arches Expo is happening on Saturday, November 9 at the FIRST Tech Challenge Ceder Mill League meet at Christ United Methodist Church 12755 NW Dogwood St. Portland  This event is open for all attendees who would like to see a FIRST LEGO Leauge Jr expo, this will be a small expo with 4 teams presenting, so we may end early! The scheduled expo is from 11-2pm with opening ceremony scheduled for 11:30am.

If you would like to see the FIRST Tech Challenge robots, please bring safety glasses to wear.

2) Willamette Week Give Guide starting FRIDAY

For the first time, ORTOP is in the Willamette Week Give Guide!  We are very excited about this opportunity to be seen by the community and to offer prizes and awards to donors who participate in this event.  For all of November and December please watch our Facebook page for special giving days. You may even get an extra email or two during November, but I promise not to spam your inbox, so check our Facebook page! To participate in this campaign, please see our website for details -and check out the sweet prize donation from Intel Oregon!

3) Volunteer at a FIRST LEGO League event

Judges ready for teams at
Mentor Graphics 2018
I know you are having a blast with your FIRST LEGO League Jr team, but it's only a short matter of time before that team is ready for a bigger challenge. That challenge comes in the form of FIRST LEGO League. The very best way to get an understanding of the FIRST LEGO League program is to volunteer as a judge or other tournament day volunteer.

To see the list of statewide FIRST LEGO League events and get the link to volunteer, please use this page.

4) Team Financial Support - Update

ORTOP is happy to offer Team Financial Support to FIRST LEGO League Jr teams.  Because of a delay with FIRST LEGO League Team Financial Support we have not yet started distributing the funds we currently have, but will be starting that process shortly.  Awards are available to qualifying teams until the funds run out!  Please see this page for more details.

I hope to see many of you on November 9th. Things are very busy here at ORTOP, so if your email lands in the blackhole instead of before my eyes, please resend! I am happy to help you work more effectively with your team throughout your season, whenever that is this year.

Best Wishes,
Loridee
